PDQ-Evidence

PDQ (Pretty Darn Quick)-Evidence is a new database that provides quick access to high quality evidence abouthealth systems. It builds on a concept originating at the Evidence-Based Medicine Unit, Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. The core content is systematic reviews (Cochrane and other reviews) and the research literature directly connected to them: overviews of systematic reviews, related systematic reviews, included primary studies and structured summaries. www.pdq-evidence.org

What is unique about PDQ-Evidence?

PDQ-Evidence connects related documents in a precise way that makes the content easy to search.
For example, each systematic review is linked to all of the individual studies included in the review, to overviews and policy briefs that include the review, and to other systematic reviews that include any of
the same studies.

PDQ-Evidence includes systematic reviews and overviews of health system problems that cover
questions related to:

  • The effects of health system or population health interventions
  • Barriers to and facilitators of those interventions
  • The effects of implementation strategies

It also provides access to structured summaries of studies, such as SUPPORT Summaries.

In 2013, there are nearly 19,000 records in PDQ-Evidence, including over 2200 systematic reviews that fulfil basic quality criteria. These numbers are increasing weekly.

Funding

PDQ-Evidence is a non-commercial database, developed by a group of health systems researchers, designers and programmers from three continents, funded in part by the EU 7th framework and Norad. The database is maintained by the Evidence-Based Medicine Unit, Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. Development and improvement is heavily grounded in feedback from users. The main objective of PDQ-Evidence is to make relevant high quality research easy to find for anyone with a health systems question.
