Collaboration with the WHO to improve the use of systematic reviews in WHO recommendations
Staff at the NbNCC and Norwegian EPOC Satellite collaborate on a regular basis with the World Health Organization (WHO) to improve the use of systematic reviews in WHO recommendations.
In 2012, staff members led the technical team behind the WHO’s guidance on Optimizing health worker roles to improve access to key maternal and newborn health interventions through task shifting (OPTIMIZEMNH). The guidance was based on input from several Cochrane reviews, either initiated or updated in connection with OPTIMIZEMNH.
Available evidence was both presented by the technical team and assessed by the guideline panel using a DECIDE Evidence to Recommendations Framework (See Evidence to decision page for more information on this process).
Once the OPTIMIZEMNH guidance was finalised, staff at the NbNCC also developed a video presenting the guidance.
